Frequently Asked Questions
We require a 48 hour notice for orders and a week's notice for cakes or cookies with artwork (such as fondant or extensive buttercream drawings). Notice can vary based on the timeframe as well. For instance, we may have to stop taking orders for cakes with artwork for a certain weekend if it happens to be a holiday weekend. It just depends on how fast everyone else orders, ultimately. Because of this, we recommend ordering as soon as possible so we can at least hold a ticket for you.
No sorry, we do not.
No, the only type of vegan cake that we make is chocolate, but we have a variety of vegan frostings you can choose from (raspberry, strawberry, espresso, almond, oreo, orange, lemon, coconut, peanut butter).
Unfortunately we are not able to adjust anything in our recipes. Sorry about that!
No, we are not able to do that, sorry. We make our cakes in large batches, so we need to keep our recipes consistent.
We do offer delivery if we have availability (enough staff), however we charge an additional fee added to the cost of the cake. This fee starts at $25 and can increase depending on the address we deliver to. This is because we have to send out one of our decorators to do this. We do not work with any couriers or courier companies such as Doordash, UberEats, etc.
Unfortunately the only records we keep of orders are ones paid via online invoice (quickbooks) or orders placed via email. If you called to place the order over the phone or ordered in person at the bakery, we do not keep the order on file.
We can sometimes accommodate custom designs for cakes, however this will depend on the date or weekend that you'll need it by. Please forward your request to onceinabluemoonbakery@gmail.com with the date you'll need your order by, any pictures of the requested design, and/or a description of what you're looking for and one of our staff can check availability for you.
Sadly we do not have the capability to do that. We do make gluten free cake, however it does contain eggs, and we are not able to make it without eggs.
Yes, we keep a variety of cakes in our case in the front of our store. We are unable to guarantee a specific kind or size for same-day pickup, unless you order ahead. The types/flavors vary by day and time and will depend on what other people have ordered for pickup that day so there is no way to tell what will end up in our case at any given day.
Yes, we recommend keeping the cake in the fridge up to half an hour before serving. If left out the buttercream can sweat and decorations can droop.
We recommend keeping the cake on the floorboards of the car (front seat, passenger side if possible) with the AC set to the floor to keep it cool. We do not recommend keeping it in ice or in a cooler.
While we offer to make vegan or gluten free options via custom orders, we only have limited options and they are all made-to-order.
We have a special process to avoid certain allergens by making the allergy-sensitive order in the morning on freshly cleaned equipment, however we are not able to give any 100% guarantees that there is no cross contamination since we do keep allergens in the bakery at all times. If you are ordering a treat for someone with a severe allergy, we recommend ordering from a bakery that can 100% guarantee no cross contamination, for their safety.
